South Downs Advisory Forum
Organisations representing people who live and work in the South Downs joined together to form a forum for the future.
Councils, conservation, cultural and recreational groups were among the grass roots organisations that the South Downs Joint Committee (SDJC) invited to lend expertise to the new South Downs Advisory Forum so they can have a say in the decisions that will shape the future of this internationally important landscape.
The Forum is a key consultative body enabling wider participation in the many decisions affecting the future of the Sussex and Hampshire Areas of Natural Beauty (AONBs) whether or not they are ultimately designated as a new South Downs National Park.
The Forum is modelled on those of other protected landscape organisations where they have proved an asset in the delivery of successful management plans. Forum member organisations were drawn from areas such as land management, conservation, cultural heritage and recreational groups, parish councils and businesses.
The full forum meet annually, and are represented by a 15-member executive panel who meet 4 times per year.
